Herring Cove Beach

Native Vegetation Restoration

KZLA developed design documents for new beach facilities at Herring Cove at the Cape Cod National Seashore in Provincetown, Massachusetts. The new beach facilities were located beyond the projected velocity zone with sea level rise considered. The proposed buildings and walkways were all constructed on piers so the dynamic dune landscape was not impacted by static pavements or architecture.

Native vegetation was restored on newly constructed dunes as large areas of pavement were removed. The visitors’ experience of the site was transformed by circulation that directed through restored dunes and oriented to the water.
